Can you spot a fake smile!

Just a random quiz that I found online today. I thought it was interesting. It is from BBC and you watch a clip of a person smiling, and then you decide if it is a genuine smile or a fake (forced) smile. Go here to take the quiz.

I got 15 out of 20 ! That's pretty good, so don't fake smile around me because I will call you on it!

Happy Easter!

I know I am late in saying this but HAPPY EASTER! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I know that we did. We spent it in sunny St. George, Utah. The weather was perfect and warm. It was nice to get to spend time with the family. When we got home, the tulips were blooming. They were an Easter gift from our neighbor. (she was the recipient of some of my washcloths)

This picture is of Dustin's brother Cory, on one of our hikes. I thought he was crazy to go sit out on the ledge like that. It was a spectacular view and such a beautiful day for a hike.

New washcloths - new patterns

I really like to make washcloths, maybe because they are fast and it is a quick sense of accomplishment. I bought the Crochet Stitch Bible and have been using it to make some washcloths. I love them all, almost to the point where I don't want to give them away. Nonetheless, they are all headed to new homes this weekend. I can always make more and I am sure that I will. This one is called the harlequin stitch. I liked it, it was a little challenging since I had to remember which row I was on but I think it turned out really nice.

This one is called the two-color wave stitch. I was able to carry the yarn as I went so I didn't have to tie off each row and have a ton of ends to weave in. Any pattern that you can do that with is a winner in my book.

I know that these blues do not match but they are all that I had. I liked this pattern, super easy, and super durable.

Baby Bib - (or kitty bib)

I finally made a bib from the chickpea sewing studio pattern. Love it! It turned out super cute. I even put a fun stitch around the edges using my new toy. I gave it to a co-worker to test out on his new baby girl and he says it works like a charm. I just used some scrap material I had laying around so it wasn't anything fancy. The back is green cotton and the front is a vintage cotton fabric that my aunt gave me. I think Sophie looks good in it! The pattern was super easy and quick, I'll probably make more for baby shower gifts.

Ballroom Dancing

This weekend we (a group of ten of us that are somehow related) went to the Dancesport Ballroom Dance Competition. It was FANTASTIC! I loved it. So many pretty dresses, and really talented dancers. I wish I could dance like that, and get away with wearing really sparkly dresses every day.

We started out with dinner at Bajios. Here we are eating! That's my mom on the right, then my Aunt Joan, then my sister in the center, Pam (my cousins friend), and Trish my cousin. Oh, and me! Then we spent the rest of the night, until 12:30 (that's when I got home, I think it was about 2:00 when my mom did since she had to drive) watching the very talented ballroom dancers. This is one of my favorite couples in the Latin dancing. He had a sexy rexy shirt that showed off his chest! It's a blurry photo because they were too busy shaking it to pose for me.

Here are my really sparkly earrings - which I stole, um I mean borrowed, from my mom fare and square! They hurt like you wouldn't believe. Clip-on's - I don't know who thought that was a good idea but they definitely are not in the comfortable category. They lasted about 20 minutes on my ears and spent the rest of the night in my purse.

Here is my adorable mother! She didn't like the guys hand in the picture, but this was the best one out of the 5 that we took. It looks like he is going to grab her neck and strangle her if we took one more photo. Good thing we stopped with 5!

Oh the pretty dresses!

I've Been Tagged!

Laurah tagged me on this. Here are the rules.

1. When tagged, place the name of the person and URL on your blog
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 7 things about yourself
4. Name 7 of your favorite weblogs
5. Send an e-mail letting those bloggers know they have been tagged

So here are 7 random things about me:

1- I don't like spicy food at all. And by spicy food, I mean pepper and anything hotter.

2- I love bagels! Possibly one of the best foods ever. However, my dentist has told me I am not allowed to eat them anymore, since I have broken three teeth while eating them. I still love them though.

3-I speak Spanish as a second language. I started learning it in High School but got nothing out of those classes. Then I took a class in college and loved it. I fell in love with the language, culture, everything. I studied it throughout college and graduated from BYU with a degree in Latin American Studies and a minor in Spanish. I volunteered in Ecuador for a year in orphanages and used my Spanish a lot there. Now, I hardly ever get to practice and sometimes I feel like it is slipping away totally.

4- My second toe is longer than my big toe. It looks silly and usually just curls under to fit in my shoes. Gross, I know!

5-I love animated movies, especially Pixar/Disney! I watch Cars, Nemo, or Ratatouille at least once a week. (Love my zune!)

6- I met my husband at Target. He was a guest and I was a cashier. He had the guts to ask for my phone number with people in line behind him. Brave soul. As he was saving my number in his phone, someone called him and he lost it so he had to come ask for it again. Double brave!

7- I trained our family dog, Rikki, using the method of Doritos (the cheesy kind) and smarties! Worked like a charm, for the most part! (Mom, tell Rikki I love her!)

That's it. 7 interesting things about me. Thanks for reading this blog and for all your sweet comments. I love reading them.

Oh- I'm supposed to tag 7 others. Problem is, all those that I would tag, have already been tagged. So I tag all those who have not been tagged yet. We'd love to read 7 interesting things about you.

New Fabrics!

I am going to make a baby quilt with these so that I can practice my machine quilting skills. I am not going to make a top but just sandwich them together and quilt around the flowers. Hopefully it will turn out cute and give me some good practice.

My Dustbunny!

I sure do love my sweet Dustbunny! Nope, I do not mean lose cat hair fuzzballs that accrue on the hardwood floors but my dear husband. I don't know why, but I like to call him Dustbunny! This post is dedicated to him and all that he is. I love him so much! He makes me laugh when I don't feel like it, smile when I feel like crying, teaches me when I don't want to learn, and surprises me everyday when I am not expecting it. He truly is the greatest! He is going to school full time, working full time, and still has time enough to dedicate to me (I'm spoiled that way). He recently got a new job, as in, he starts tomorrow. I wish him all the best and know that he will be great. Hopefully it will be better for our family as well. He is going to be working for a landscaping company doing their accounting/books. And still going to school full time. He is anticipating graduating in December of this year, so his credit hours are through the roof. He is so smart and I know he can do it.

Lots of love to my sweetie on his new adventure!

New Sewing Machine

Everyone guessed correctly. I got a new Sewing Machine! Yippee!!! I can't even tell you how excited I am to start sewing on it. I got it in the mail on Tuesday and I still haven't had time to sew anything or even thread the machine. I have been super busy and I still am. I don't know when I am going to acutally get the time to sit down, watch the video on how to run it, and then start sewing. Hopefully this weekend (if I'm not painting my bedroom) I'll get some time to actually use my new toy. I just wanted to thank my Dad, Kathy, Grandparents, and Britten for the birthday money/gift cards. I was able to save up the remainder to get this beauty and I am so excited. So thanks everyone! This machine has feed dogs that drop so it will be good for machine quilting. It comes with tons of different feet, needles, an extender table, and has 70 different stitches (110 if you go by what the box says). It should be fun to have a new machine to play around with and it is all digital!!!

A SUPRISE for ME!!!

Oh boy~ do I have something good to show off. Trust me, it is fantastic!!! It was a surprise that I got in the mail today. I can't wait to show it but it looks like I am going to have to because in my rush to get home to my surprise, I left my camera cord at work and have no way of downloading my pictures of said surprise. So I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow when I have more time. Trust me~ it is worth it. I'M SO EXCITED...AND I JUST CAN"T HIDE IT... so here is a little teaser. I was able to take two photos with my camera at home (the one that got ruined when I spilled a can of coke all over it so now it doesn't really work so well.) Any guesses as to what this might be? (And mom you are not allowed to guess since you helped me in picking out this beauty! You either Britten, since I already told you.)

In other fantastic news, we went to the Jazz game last night. They won against the Mavericks. Yippee! It was a great game and we actually had good seats for being in the upper bowl. It really came close in the end but we prevailed. I think Kyle Korver is the best trade the Jazz ever made and is a great asset to this team. He is a great free throw shooter as well as three point shooter, just what the team needed. He really pulled through in the end and made all the 7 of 7 free throws. It was a fun game. Here he is on the big screen making the last two free throws to give the Jazz the winning score of 116 to 110 over the Mavericks. And I don't know who those other two good looking people are but there sure were having fun ;-)

More washcloths

All of my projects that I am currently working on are afghans. So I don't really have anything that is quick, easy, or portable (for crochet group) to work on. Washcloths to the rescue! I found this pattern in a book from my friend Ashley. And I love it. I have seen this stitch on flicker and Raverly but didn't quite know how to do it. What better way to practice than on a washcloth. I love the green and tan one and that will be a part of our kitchen from now on. The others do not have homes yet, but I'm sure I will be able to find them one somewhere.
