Hello!~

Hello! I'm back. I've been busy.

First - Hope everyone had a wonderful memorial day. Me and DH took his sister who just recently graduated from college out for a nice dinner. Apparently all of the good restaurants were closed on this holiday so we had trouble finding a place. We remembered this place in Salt Lake called Oilo that is really good so I called to make a reservation. They told me it was a holiday so no reservations were necessary since they were super slow. Well, sure enough. We were the only people in the restaurant. We should have let his sister believe that we rented it all out for her, but I don't think she would have bought it. The dessert was to die for! Tiramsu (I don't know how you spell it), and chocolate molten cake. YUM-O! We even had the hostess take our picture so she would think we were tourists! Seriously, don't people go out to eat and shop on holidays? Why are retail establishments closed? I don't get it.

Second- I finally decided what I wanted to do with the free fabric that I won at SewMamaSew. I made curtains for our bedroom. The colors work great with the quilt that I made DH for Christmas. And they are fantastic at keeping out the light.

Third- I finished another receiving blanket. I just love making these things. And this is my new favorite border to do. I also bought fabric to make three more. I think I am addicted!

Well, that is my quick catchup post. I am going to a quilt retreat with my family (we call it a quilt retreat but really it is just my family at my Aunt Catherine's House, sitting around sewing, and having fun) this weekend, so I'll be sure to have lots of fun pictures to show of everyone's projects. We are learning how to applique!

Cards & A New Quilt

Well, what can I say... I am the queen of new projects. Which is what I have been working on. We finally got out house put in order, well for the most part, and then I spent a few days making cards to send out to our family giving them our new address. It is hard to keep up to date with us since we move so much, so I thought this might help a little. Thanks to Rebekah again for all the scrapbooking stuff. I made all these cards with the stuff that she sent.
Then I promptly got to work on my new quilt. It is a dutch pinwheel quilt, and so adorable. I saw this pattern in a book my mom had and knew that I had to make one. After a little quilting drama (thanks to mom and Aunt Ellen for helping me solve it) I got one block completed and all the squares cut out. Please don't notice that they don't line up perfectly because I am still working on that part. Hopefully I'll get more quilting time in this week and can get it finished by this weekend. Or not... you never know with me.

Millard County & 50,000 Miles

I grew up in a really small town called Fillmore~ population under 2,000 (and that is including five smaller surrounding towns). Say what you will, but they have the best sunsets ever!

Fillmore is also where our family dog Rikki lives. So I'd say it is a place worth seeing. (Isn't she cute!?)

We took a trip to Fillmore over Mother's day to visit my mom, and guess what mileage we hit in our car? No worries, I took a picture to prove it. 50,000 miles in 3 years is pretty good.

*Please excuse all of the crummy pictures, they were either taken with my camera phone or speeding down the highway.

Two Reasons Why I am Spoiled

I might even be spoiled rotten ... But lets just say spoiled.
Look at what I got for Mother's Day. (Yes, I know, I technically do not have kids but I do have two cats and plus, who doesn't like getting presents?)

Yep, I got a Cricut! Love it! My husband is really good at taking note when I want something. I was scrapbooking with my sister, who owns a cricut herself, and we were using it. I kept raving and saying how much I wanted one. My DH, trying to throw me off the trail of my new present, said "I don't see what the big deal about this is. Why do you want one." Well, unknown to me, he had one wrapped and waiting for mothers day. I'm so lucky! I haven't stopped playing with it since I got it.

Reason number two that I am spoiled. Look what I got in the mail.

Yep, it is all new scrapbooking stuff. It was sent to me by Rebekah. If you haven't checked out her blog, do it! "Do it now! Five... four... three... two. DO IT." (~Dwight Schrute). I know you will love it as much as I do. She is super talented and always makes the cutest things. She said she was done with scrapbooking and offered me her stuff. I was so surprised with the stuff that she sent. Surprised in that, she sent me a ton of stuff. Stamps, tons of paper (really cute paper), stickers, brads, glue dots, a photo album, corner tags, and tons more. There was so much stuff that I couldn't even get a good picture of it all. Probably one of my favorite things was this cute little tin full of brads and paper clips. So cute! And I love the paper, and the stamps, and the rub-ons, and the di-cut letters, oh - I just love it all! I spent all night playing! THANKS REBEKAH! You are the greatest!

*Sorry there are not more pictures, but I got so excited I stopped trying to take pictures of it all and went to play instead.

You can bet that the next few day, well, okay, maybe the next few weeks I will be mostly scrapbooking!

Happy Mother's Day!

Okay, so I'm a few days late, but it is the thought that counts. Happy (Late) Mother's Day! Lots of love to my mom~!

Mom ~It was nice to spend time with you this weekend. See you when you are ready to put in your garden, or the quilt retreat, which ever comes first!

Finished Projects

Well, I finally got around to taking some pictures of what I have been working on. Better late than never, I guess. I have finished three receiving blankets and too many burp rags to count. Some have already made their way to new homes, and some even before I could take pictures. Oh, well. These two blankets I think I might end up saving for me (no mom, no grandkids yet) just because I think they are super cute and it will be hard to part with them. On the edgings I did a crab stitch (reverse SC) on the monkey one and a cluster stitch over a HDC on the pink one. Fun and easy. The burp rags were given to me by my aunt and I am just now getting around to them.
I love making these blankets so much, that I even got some more flannel to make another one. Love this funky flannel.

In other fun news, why didn't I think of this .... just pick up my whole apartment and move it to another location instead of packing up all my stuff in boxes? I guess it isn't such a crazy idea because I just spent 30 minutes in traffic waiting for a diesel to move a whole house! I even took a picture to prove that I am not making this up. There were cops blocking traffic through the canyon with cars piling up on both sides while this "over -oversize load" made it's way through the canyon. The sucker took up almost both lanes! Silly me, I spent a week packing and unpacking when I could have just moved my whole apartment to a new location. Oh well, at least it kept me out of the office a little longer and I got to see this adorable red roof bridge.

The Polka!

For those of you who have the same idea as moi ... "accordions are just for polka music". Here is the proof that changed my mind.

Today at work, we had a going away party for one of our co-workers who got a new job. Our other co-worker, his wife, plays the accordion and so she came in to play for us. Isn't she adorable? She bought her first accordion at a thrift store and decided to learn to play. Now she is really good, has a super fancy one (did you know that they are super heavy? Hers weighs 30lbs.) and she is even in an accordion club (they meet monthly!).

Probably won't have any more posts for a while since I am in the process of moving. No worries though, I have finished a few items I just need to take some pictures.
