I'm Honored

I’m am so honored to be featured on Crafty Christina's blog as her Tuesday’s Tribute.

Seriously, Christina is amazing!  She has a great talent for crochet makes the cutest things.  She even designs her own patterns!  She was so kind and donated these bath puffs that she made for the relay for life fundraiser.  She is such an inspiration and I am thrilled that she would honor me with this tribute.

You can visit her site here.

And you can read her post on me here.

Thanks Christina, you are the best!

King Size? I must be crazy!

Remember when I started this quilt?  Well, plans changed and we found out we were moving.  So, I packed it up knowing that it would have to wait ...  until this weekend, that is!

I spent all day Saturday with my mom and sister just sewing.  We were like mad sewing ladies on a mission.  It was quite a scary site!    3398732129_a72fd48e81

I got all of the blocks pieced together (all of the 144 blocks it takes to make this quilt!) and now I just need to sew them into rows.  I am surprised that I was able to get so much progress made on this quilt and I’m hoping it will be done sooner rather than later.

Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth

One of the things (of the many) that really motivated me to finally learn to knit was this particular dishcloth pattern called Grandmother’s Favorite.  We received one of these for our wedding, hand knit by a friend, and it was my favorite!  That was until it was sliced with a knife and had to be tossed out (I won’t name any names, but it was tragic).

So naturally, this was the first dishcloth I wanted to make after I learned some knitting skills.  Well, I think I was a little too ambitious because I have not been able to stop making this pattern.  I just love it!

This picture doesn’t include the two that I sent to Dustin (which by the way, he promptly gave away to the new neighbors so now I need to make more for our kitchen!)  That means I have made 7 of this pattern, with one more currently on the needles, in just over 2 weeks.  I’m not a super fast knitter so one of these takes me about two hours to complete.

I have figured out that I can get two washcloths from one skein of sugar and creme cotton yarn.  So, I have been making one of the grandmothers favorite and one of a different pattern…you know, just to mix it up a little.

The basket-weave dishcloth has also been fun to knit.  I followed a pattern that my friend Jen wrote up for me, but here is one online that is similar.  And I learned how to do a seed stitch from this pattern which is a bonus!

3378825087_87ffc2c2e7 Isn’t that seed stitch just gorgeous!?  I love it!  (I love a lot of things it seems.)

The other pattern that I have been making is a slip stitch pattern called Darrell Waltrip.  I can’t seem to get this pattern to load online, so if you are interested, let me know and I’ll email it to you.

Since my craft stuff is still packed in boxes and waiting to be moved to North Carolina, I have been feeding my craft hunger with dishcloths and I’m loving it.  Of course, I can’t wait to have my craft room put back together and start sewing and scrapbooking again.  Hopefully that will be soon.

Girls Night – Card Making!

This past weekend I got together with some friends for a scrapbooking/card making party.   We had so much fun and I’m actually surprised that I got anything accomplished at all.  Seriously, it is a miracle.

I came away with 11 cards, all different.  It was so much fun to actually have some craft time and I’m really happy with all of the cards.

This is all of them, minus the one that I already sent to Dustin.

Reason # 6,792 Why I Love My Husband

Because even though he is 3,000 miles away, he is still thinking of me. He knows me so well, that he is willing to go into a yarn store all by himself to get me something. Not only that, but he picks exactly what I would have chosen.... Debbie Bliss Cashmerino yarn in a stunning red color! Love it!

I can’t wait to make something with this. Now I just need to find the perfect project!

Thank You Jen!

How cute is this?  Isn’t it adorable?

What is it?  Are you kidding me, take another look.  Here, does this help?

Okay, how about I model it for you?  Now can you see how great it is?  It is a bow-knot scarf.  (pattern here)

I just love my new scarf!  My friend Jen (who helped me to finally learn how to knit), made this as a going away gift for me.  I jokingly gave her this pattern in December and said “you should make one of these…for me”.  (This was before my mad knitting skills).  And she did!  Squeaky wheel gets the grease again!

It is made out of this fantastic alpaca yarn and is so soft and warm.  I love love love it!  Thanks so much Jen!  You are amazing!

Relay for Life Donations

Teresa sent this great apron to add to the donations for the relay for life project.  Isn’t it so cute!  I just love it!  I seriously would love to keep this for myself but I’m sure they will get more donations if I don’t.

Isn’t it just so adorable?!  I love it! Look at this adorable flower stitch she did on the edging.  It is so cute!

Thank you so much, Teresa, for this apron.  It is just perfect!
