Well, I'll tell you what I did. I ran to my stash and asked her "What color?"
"Yellow, please."
That night I got straight to work. How could I not. It was the cutest thing ever. I've never had such an adorable request for my homemade goodies. Apparently she was wearing a hat I made a couple of years ago, and it kept getting into her "bybrows". We can't have that now can we.

Raverly Link
Needles - Size 6 (brim), Size 7 (body of the hat)
Yarn - Vanna's Choice
Modifications - CO 80 sts for a child size head. Knit four butterfly repeats before starting decreases.
For Mr. Ben's hat, I wanted a scrappy look. Anna had requested that I made a red one, but I didn't have any red yarn that looked good with the other colors. I hope she doesn't remember she wanted his to be red. I think it turned out adorable and perfect for Mr. Ben.

Pattern - Scrap Happy Celebration Hat
Yarn - Vanna's Choice in various colors
Needles - Size 5 (brim) size 6 (body of hat)
Modifications - CO 80 sts for a child size hat; each color section is knit for 10 rows. I made the brim extra long so they it could be rolled up, giving him extra room to grow into it.
The best part about these hats.... the "Thank You" call I got when they arrived to their new owners. Seriously, how did I get so lucky as to have the cutest niece and nephew ever?
I think they are happy with the new hats, wouldn't you say.

You are the best knitting Aunt ever. Your hats are soooooo cute. Please come back to Utah and give me some kitting lessons. I really need them.
ReplyDeleteLove your work. Think of us at Thanksgiving because we will be thinking of your cute family.

The hats are great, but nothing can be cuter than seeing them on those two smiling faces! They're adorable! You're such a great Aunt!
