First thing I wanted to learn to do was make cables. When I saw this project I knew that it would be perfect for me to start. I had just learned to knit in the round and was anxious to keep practicing. I had read a few reviews on Raverly that this was an excellent beginner cabling project.
For these mitts, I used one skein of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in red (#610). The skein that my DH bought for me almost a year ago. I think it was about time that I found a perfect use for it. This pattern was perfect, since the yarn used to make these is Debbie Bliss and it calls for exactly one skein.
I cast on the first mitt during the first week of January. Within a few weekends, I had a completed pair. They are just perfect and have proven to be a life saver at my office where it is always freezing. I can still type and keep my hands cozy warm. Overall, I love these! I most likely will be making a few more sets for next winter. My Raverly Page
* I followed the pattern (found here) with the exception of the picot edging. I wasn't sure I really liked it all that much so I just bound off normally to end these. I do think that they are a little short on the fingers and maybe next time I might add one more round of cables at the end. But then again, I have practically worn these out and didn't seem to mind the way they are.
These are so pretty! I love that yarn you used!
ReplyDeleteI love the color and they look very soft and cushy! You did a great job on the cables.
