I am so very excited about this yarn! "I must scream my excitement from the top of someplace very high!" (name that movie?) Seriously, I just can't stop thinking about this yarn and how much fun it was to dye and how much I love it!
I used this tutorial on how to dye yarn with Easter Egg Dying Kits by KathrynIvy. I highly recommend this tutorial if you are thinking about dying yarn at all. The instructions are so clear and very well written so you don't miss a beat.
After Easter, I purchased two of the egg dying kits when they were on clearance. If I'd had known how much fun this would be and that I would be totally in love, I would have bought all of the kits I could. Look out next year, I'll be ready!
I purchased some yarn from Knitpicks, the bare kind that you can dye yourself. Again, if I'd only known how much I'd love this, I would have bought way more than one skein. I mixed up all the tablets, because I wanted to see the colors before I decided, and then I started dying the yarn. I wanted to do a blue, purple, green color scheme, but then I ran out and decided to throw in some orange to the mix.
I steamed it, rinsed, it and then had to wait patiently while it dried. That was by far the toughest part. The next day after it was completely dry, I wound it into a center pull ball. I am absolutely in love with this yarn! I love love love it! The knitpicks yarn is super soft and the best part is that it is superwash wool.I am just head over heels in love with this yarn! I love how some of the yarn didn't get as much color as other places, adding little subtle changes of color throughout. I can't wait to start knitting with this! It turned out way better than I imagined it would.
