Dimitri’s Blanket

3161202360_04872c2c60

My sweet kitty turned 5 yesterday!  We totally celebrated his birthday, because we are slowly turning into the crazy cat people of the neighborhood, and it was fun!  Anyway, for his birthday I made him a new blanket.  He absolutely loves blankets, all kinds of blankets, but really the flannel ones are his favorites.

It was a family effort to make this for him.  Dustin picked out the fabric and I did the sewing.  Then Sophie kept it warm for him (or in other words, kicked him off of it so she could lay on it.  Looks like I need to make a second one).

I figured Dimitri wouldn't care if it had a crochet edging or a decorative stitch so I went with the fastest one.  I tried out a few new stitches (and even one that I might try for quilting next time) and finally settled on this one.

He really likes it and I think Sophie is jealous.  I really think I will be making a second one of these in the near future for her.

PS- Double yay to the Jazz for beating the Lakers last night!   Even with all the injured players, they still were able to win!  What a game!

My Weekend!

You know, most days I wish that weekends were 5 days long and weekdays were 2 days long. Why isn’t it that way? I know I’d be able to get more done.

I did get a lot of stuff done this weekend, just not the things that I would have liked to.

Friday I went to Chardell’s to have craft night. We sent the boys to the Jazz game. I even helped Dustin to make some signs. Since the game was going to be broadcast on ESPN, he wanted to get noticed. But I really hope they didn’t notice that we spelled Deron’s name wrong. Oops! They didn’t make it on TV but Dustin said they had a good time. And bonus, the Jazz won!

While they guys were at the game, Chardell, Anna and I watched the puppies movie, or 101 Dalmatians. Anna loved it! She watched the whole thing and didn’t want to go to bed until it was finished. She moves too fast, I can never get a good picture of her. This is why I need a new camera. Donations are accepted!

Saturday, I spent all morning decorating the house for Christmas. I usually do this the day after Thanksgiving, but I was too tired from all the shopping. I love having the house decorated for Christmas. It really makes me excited for the Christmas season to begin. I just wish I could have done it sooner.

The best part, I finally got a new mattress. I have been sleeping like a baby. More about this later. I want to wait for my bed frame to come before I tell you all about it. I love it!

Saturday, I went to a work Christmas party. Any one who says appraisers are dull, should see our team. We are quite the bunch of characters!

That was about it for my weekend. I did get a lot done in the craft area, but I’ll post about that later. It is hard because a lot of the things I have been working on are for Christmas presents and I’d hate to spoil the surprise.

Jazz Game

misc 012

We went to our first Jazz game of this season last night. What a heart breaker of a game. The Jazz lost (at the last second) to the Chicago Bulls: 101 to 100.

It was so intense!

3 seconds left on the clock. Bulls have possession of the ball. Bulls take a shot and miss it. The crowd goes wild! The bulls rebound and throw up a jump shot with 1.2 seconds left. Swoosh! The crowd goes silent. Time is up. End of game.

What a bummer.

I still had fun! There is always the next game.

I’m sure Keith would have loved this game but he would have been just as disappointed as I was that they lost.

A SUPRISE for ME!!!

Oh boy~ do I have something good to show off. Trust me, it is fantastic!!! It was a surprise that I got in the mail today. I can't wait to show it but it looks like I am going to have to because in my rush to get home to my surprise, I left my camera cord at work and have no way of downloading my pictures of said surprise. So I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow when I have more time. Trust me~ it is worth it. I'M SO EXCITED...AND I JUST CAN"T HIDE IT... so here is a little teaser. I was able to take two photos with my camera at home (the one that got ruined when I spilled a can of coke all over it so now it doesn't really work so well.) Any guesses as to what this might be? (And mom you are not allowed to guess since you helped me in picking out this beauty! You either Britten, since I already told you.)

In other fantastic news, we went to the Jazz game last night. They won against the Mavericks. Yippee! It was a great game and we actually had good seats for being in the upper bowl. It really came close in the end but we prevailed. I think Kyle Korver is the best trade the Jazz ever made and is a great asset to this team. He is a great free throw shooter as well as three point shooter, just what the team needed. He really pulled through in the end and made all the 7 of 7 free throws. It was a fun game. Here he is on the big screen making the last two free throws to give the Jazz the winning score of 116 to 110 over the Mavericks. And I don't know who those other two good looking people are but there sure were having fun ;-)
