I Passed!

I finally found out that I passed my state licensing test to be a licensed appraiser. Yippee for me!! I'm so very excited. It has been a long time coming. I barley missed the deadline for December to take the old test, only two hours, and had to take the new test, 6 hours long, and boy was it brutal. Nonetheless, I'm done and don't have to worry about it any more.

So after I found out, we spend the weekend celebrating! What else could we do!? We went shopping! Yes, I did purchase more fabric, but I totally needed it ;-) I saw this quilt that Rebekah made and I knew that I just had to make one. So I bought some of the Amelia line by Timeless Treasure. I have had my eye on this for a long time but haven't found a store that carried more than one or two of the fabrics. That all changed this Saturday, when Quilts Etc in Sandy had all of them but one. I will have to order this one for the backing anyway so it wasn't a big deal. I probably won't get around to it for a while since I have so many other project in progress right now, but I couldn't help myself. Plus, Dustin said if I passed, he'd spoil me rotten. I couldn't pass that up, now could I.

We also went out to dinner at Tuscany, this fantastic restaurant in Salt Lake. It was so yummy. I didn't think about taking pictures until after I was done eating, so sorry, no pictures. Just trust me, it was fantastic! Plus, they have valet! I really must be a small town girl because I was super excited about this. This cute guy open my door for me! And all I had to do was pay him. Wait a second...

(I had to be sneaky about this photo in order to get the valet guys so I took one of Dustin. Hehehe)

Anyway, it was a fantastic weekend. I even got some crafting time in. I got the borders put on my dutch pinwheel quilt top. Any ideas on how I should quilt this?

I also basted another quilt top to practice machine quilting. I think I need a little more practice before I attempt it on one that I've worked long and hard on.

congratulations on passing! Are you a real estate appraiser or an antiques appraiser?

Thanks for the timeless treasure link...that fabric is so cute. I might have to add some to my collection.

And I love how your pinwheel quilt to turned out. It's so fresh and pretty!

Gorgeous quilt. I love the colors you picked. You asked about my sewing machine in your comment on my blog. I assume that your problem exists even when you are using your walking foot. I actually don't use the recommended setting for the walking foot. Instead, I set the machine at 01 and the stitch length 3.5 - 4.0. I keep the tension right in the middle of the recommended range. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me for more suggestions at melissa.lunden@gmail.com
