I have finally finished these placemats that I started a long time ago (so long ago, that I am not going to even say how long). I’m super pleased with how they turned out and I’m even more pleased that they are finally done. I usually start a project with full steam and then I get bored and don’t work on them for a while. This is a perfect example.
I only made two of them because there are only two of us and since they took me so long to make, I figure I should stop while I’m ahead.
Did I mention that they match our dishes perfectly?
I used the sugar and creme brand of cotton yarn. I love this yarn! I just did a simple shell stitch (the patten came from this book). I can’t remember how many chains I did, but I just measured my chain against our store bought placemats until it was the same size.
Normally these would have taken someone a day to make, but for me they took a lot longer. Nonetheless, I’m super happy with them and I can’t wait to start using them everyday.

They match your dishes perfectly. Score on getting the perfect color. My hubby asked me to make place mats when we moved into our current place (sept. 07). I hsven't even started them. :X

Those are gorgeous too. I have often thought of making placemats but somehow never get around to it.
