Excuses ...excuses

I will admit, there has been a serious shortage of crafting going on in my life lately. My excuse. Books.

I like to read... but I usually decide to fill what little free time that I do have with knitting, crochet, or quilting. Even on occasion, scrapbooking. That is the case until I read a good book that I really like. And then when I've finished it, I want to read another, and another... and another. Before I realize it, I have spent all my free time reading, and not knitting.

It all started with the book "Loving Frank", about the mistress of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was really interesting and I quite enjoyed it. So I decided to keep reading. Then, I started reading "Freakonomics" out loud with Dustin at night. He'd always fall asleep and I'd stay up reading because it was so interesting and I couldn't put it down. Once I had finished that, I moved on to "The Hunger Games" - which I really loved! I wanted to read the second book right away, but had to put my name on the waiting list at the library. Why stop there? So I picked up "My Life in France" by Julia Child. I adore her and this book was perfect. Another fast read for me because I was so excited to learn about Julia. By the time I finished, my wait time at the library was up for "Catching Fire". I flew through this one, which means I will eventually have to read it again at a slower pace just to remember what it was about. And now, I'm moving on to the third book in the hunger games series, "Mockingjay", which I bought off Amazon, because I didn't want to have to wait for it at the library again.

After this one, I'm hoping to get back into crafting mode. Fall feels like it is just around the corner, so I need to get cracking if I'd like to have a few new scarfs, gloves, and hats for the season. Not to mention that Christmas is coming faster than I realized, and if I don't hurry, there won't be any home-made gifts this year.

Oh, I'm right there with you. When I get into a reading groove, it is so hard for me to put down the books. There's always an internal struggle going on... reading...crafting... reading... carfting!

I read Hunger Games and have the last two books waiting for me. I'm afraid to start reading them until I can commit a few days of reading time (those books really suck me in)

I loved Freakonomics...I think there is a sequel out too now

Just wondering if "catnip" bunnies has anything to do with Hunger Games. I'm reading that book right now. Usually don't enjoy science fiction, but this book has a lot of undertones which I like learning from. Love your pinwheel quilt.
