I decided to try something different for the edging on a receiving blanket. When I saw this satin binding, I thought that it would be perfect. Little did I know that satin was not a friend of mine. Boy is that stuff slippery. Way to much pinning for my taste.
I used a pre-made satin binding and attached it to two pieces of flannel. It turned out super cute and it is oh so soft, but this will most likely be the one and only time that I attempt this. I just might have to keep this one since I will not be making another like this.
After I finished the satin edging, I decided that crochet edges really were more my style. So I started a new one with a lovely crochet edging. Oh, this made me so happy!
One side is a flower print and the reverse side is a polka dot print that I just adore.
The edging is just the simple shell stitch that I have been using to make dish cloths and the placemats. I really enjoy this stitch and think maybe next time I will do two rounds of it.
I’m off to put together a few more because we all know that I love them!

The satin binding looks awesome, even if it was a PITA to put on. I love the little animal print too.
The purple blankie is sooo cute! I love how you take fabric that isn't too babyish to make these. It's gorgeous!
I love the purple! They really are gorgeous. I so admire all your MANY talents!
Love you!

I totally agree with you about the satin binding. The thing that keeps me coming back to it is HOW MUCH babies love the stuff. But it's a pain.
I much prefer the look of the crochet edging. I've never done that but may have to give it a try - it's beautiful.
good to know about the satin! i've never tried using it before, but I hate pinning, so I will just admire this stuff from afar :)
your blanket turned out really cute though!
Both blankets are too cute. I'm loving the purple one as well! That edging just matches it so perfectly. You have such an eye for fabric!
I love both, I think the one with the satin binding is my favorite, just because it has the animals theme.
Your blankets are always my favorite...sounds so cliche by now... but is true.
Beautiful stuff as always.
